Foursquare has just ushered a cool 2.0 feature for its iPhone users. These include Tips and To-Dos. This makes it darned easy for users to put things with one touch into their To-Do list.

Foursquare

This means a blue “dog ear” indication when you’re close to the place. Anything that you upload to To-Do will serve a reminder when you’re close to the place (restaurant, leather store, mall).

You can just add anything you like as you surf and Foursquare will save it for you. And when you fire up Foursquare, it’ll show that in the To-Do list. Tips are general advices given from Foursquare users. Your network’s Tips are also visible to you.

Instead of allowing to share locations and giving offers, the company now wants users to do a lot more. And even benefit from the community.

The company claims that The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Zagat, Time Out Chicago, Time Out New York, National Post, and New York magazine will be implementing it in the coming days.

The mobile is an amazing mass market, compared to internet, media or anything else. Back in 2007, the iPhone changed the way people used phones. And now everyone from Nokia to LG and Microsoft to Google are working on connecting to users via the mobile. And now the kicker, not surprisingly, is that Facebook is working on a mobile OS (perhaps even a device). Why won’t they with 500 M users and attractive marketable data?

Recently, handset market leader Nokia replaced CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo with Microsoft chief Stephen Elop. And key smartphone chiefs in Nokia put in their papers for failing to take Nokia to the next level in this emerging segment. Now LG’s CEO Nam Yong has quit. There’s turmoil in the industry as everyone rushes to grab a share of the mobile market that’s connected to the internet (and even without it). Not to talk of applications.

Handset leaders are now realizing that the software and applications are the key to success, not the hardware.

In order to stay competitive in the powerful app world, Apple recently removed some restrictions for developers paving the way for more transparency. The normally unrelenting Apple’s change is seen as a pointer to the growing smartphone market dynamics.

Large companies these days are creating mobile sites to offer unique experiences to the elite mobile internet users. And search engine professionals are scratching their heads understanding mobile SEO.

One can expect a number of niche mobile company buyouts in the next year or two as the big guys go all out to grab a share of this market. The users are headed to better experiences via mobile, where are you?

Why keyword rich domain names draw a ton of traffic?

The domain name is a first point of contact for search engines to know what the domain is all about. And so it’s very important for you to choose a name that has words that people use often to search for information on the subject.

So if you’re going to run a blog or site on self improvement, then selfimprovement.com would be a wonderful name to choose. Or if you were planning to trade in second hand cars, then usedcars.com is a good name. Because approximately 68,000,000 searches were made on Google using the keywords “used cars”. In the last month alone.

Astrology.com and shopping.com are great names for their domains because that’s the top keyword people use while looking for the respective services.

Small wonder then that a Big Fight is on to gain the domain name sex.com, which is reportedly up for sale and is valued at $18 million. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and a California meat company BullWhip are at war over this domain name. PETA has publicly requested the owner of this domain name to donate it to them so that they could put up a lot of “sexy” veggie ads and promote their cause. Read the stories here: Fight for domain name and PETA’s request for the sex.com name

Although sex.com doesn’t have a single page of original content, you can discover that 559,000,000 number of pages are indexed in Google for the word “sex”. And sex.com is on the first page.

That name can draw a ton of traffic every minute. There are a million searches happening across the world using this word. And, the traffic for this keyword is not seasonal. It’s evergreen.

Reasons why it’s valued so high.

The domain name has the advantage of age, since it was booked in 1995 and has been renewed till 2019.

Lesson to learn here, a domain name has to be keyword rich, with words people are most likely to use to search for information on your website.
